L.A. PRIDE 2013
March with us
on Sunday, June 9
PLACE: Our contingent will gather at Crescent Heights somewhere SOUTH of Santa Monica Boulevard. For more information, you can ask a event organizer at this intersection. (Updates will be posted on this page. Check back before you come!)
TIME: Arrive by 10 am (we would also love your help at set-up starting at 9:30 am). The parade steps off sharply at 11 am.
DRESS: Wear a red T-shirt! It's not mandatory, but most of us will be decked out in red.
TIPS: Eat a good breakfast that morning. Bring water, sunscreen, a hat and snacks. Arrive early!
RULES: Marchers are not allowed to throw any item into the crowd OR engage in any activity that causes or promotes spectators to enter the parade route (such as giving or receiving hugs ... sorry folks). Parade organizers have stated that they will strictly enforce this rule this year. WARNING: Violating with rule will cause the entire contingent to be immediately removed during the parade!
PARKING: Parking and traffic congestion on Parade day in West Hollywood are impossible at best; any vehicles parked illegally WILL be ticketed and towed away. Consider carpooling. Suggested parking areas include East of Fairfax, Pacific Design Center, the Kings Road parking structure, and the Beverly Center. Parking permits in West Hollywood are waived from 7 a.m. Sat., June 8 to 7 a.m. Mon., June 10.
FINALLY: Come prepared to have fun and share in the LGBTQ community's celebration.
We're looking forward to seeing you!
We need YOU to join PFLAG Los Angeles
and Johnson & Johnson in the
CARE WITH PRIDE CAMPAIGN
aimed at ending bullying and making
schools safe for all students.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
MARCH: Bring your family and friends and march with us in the parade. Carry a sign, hand out campaign materials, be a marcher to show your support for PFLAG, the campaign, and the LGBTQ community. See left column for details.
TEXT: Text the word HERO to 81550 and make a $5 donation to support PFLAG's safe schools work right here in Los Angeles. Johnson & Johnson will match your contribution dollar for dollar up to $150,000.
VISIT: Come to the Johnson & Johnson booth for some interactive fund at the Pride Festival and drop by the PFLAG Los Angeles' booth nearby.
Because one voice can change the world. We're honoring Jeanne Manford who started the PFLAG organization by marching with her son in the 1972 parade. We hope you'll text the word hero to honor someone important in your life. And know that whether you march, or text, or speak up to stop bullying when you see it, you are OUR hero.
What the campaign will do?
• Raise awareness of PFLAG and safe schools in a marketing campaign that will have more than 25,000,000 impressions through print and digital outlets across the United States.
• Feature PFLAG and safe schools in ads appearing in Family Circle, Curve, Details, Metrosource, AOL Huffington Post Gay Voices, and PRIDE magazines.
• Display PFLAG logo and safe schools messages on Healthy Essentials coupon newspaper inserts reaching
44 million households.
• Raise funds for local PFLAG chapters, especially for safe schools work.
