PARENTS, FAMILIES AND FRIENDS ALLIED WITH THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY
Conference to Establish a National PFLAG Organization: At the end of July in 1981, over thirty parents from all over the country gathered at the Starr home to work out the structure for a national organization. This photo shows the gathering with arrows pointing to Adele and Larry Starr and Jeanne Manford. Others are less well known in PFLAG National history, but driving forces in their own states and localities such as Katie and Harry Urbanek and her husband from Rifle Colorado. Katie became became Regional Director for the Pacific Northwest after moving to Spokane and testified many times before the Washington State Senate and House of Representatives.
