1974 | Beginnings
Jeanne Manford and Adele Starr meet to discuss a parent/LGBTQ support group.

March 8, 1976 | First PFLAG Los Angeles Meeting
35 people met at the Starr's home.

June 1977 | First PFLAG appearance at Los Angeles Pride Parade
Adele Starr received Grand Marshall Award.

1978 | Lobbied against the Briggs Initiative
Helped defeat a law that would have prevented LGBTQ persons from teaching or administration in California public schools.

1979 | Testified for passage of Los Angeles LGBT Antidiscrimination Ordinance
Adele Starr joined Rev. Troy Perry, Jr. and others to advocate for passage. The ordinance passed by 13 to 2. The 44th local government to have LGBTQ protections.

1979 | March on Washington for LGBTQ Rights
11 chapter members marched.

Lobbying on Capitol Hill for LGBTQ Rights.

1980 | March on Sacramento for LGBTQ Rights
Advocating passage of an anti-discrimination law protecting LGBTQ persons right to work.

1981 | Founding of PFLAG National
Meeting at the Starr home with Jeanne Manford and representatives from 20 LGBTQ support groups.

1982 | PFLAG Los Angeles Incorporated in California
The first non-profit organization incorporated in California with the names "lesbians" and "gays.”

2011 and subsequently | PFLAG Los Angeles at Models of Pride
PFLAG chapters from Los Angeles and Pasadena presented the first program for parents at this LGBTQ Youth Conference.

2013 | PFLAG Los Angeles president Mariette Sawchuk testified in the Amicus Brief
Contributed to Amicus Brief presented to the Supreme Court of the United States in Hollingsworth vs. Perry (Proposition 8 case on LGBTQ marriage rights).
